Addressing the Recent Lack of Drawings

Posted by CyrilDraws - March 16th, 2024

UPDATE: I got the phone back today, and just as I was expecting, the repair failed. In fact, it made things worse because the phone is not turning on now, and yes, I did try charging it, but it only resulted in it heating up. So, that's pretty unfortunate.

UPDATE №2: I think I'll just save up and buy a new phone because I took it to a different repair shop today and got the same outcome. In the meantime, I'll slowly get back to drawing despite all of the lag that I'll get on the phone that I'm currently using (Galaxy A10). Yes, it'll be more difficult, but I don't have much choice.

Hello everyone, Cyril here. You may have noticed that I haven't been drawing as of late. Well, I want to address why that is. Short version, I broke my Galaxy A53. Long version, I was playing a game of Half-Life 2 and kept dying to the point where it made me so angry, I slammed that phone against a wall. The impact was strong that it flew out of my hand and landed onto the floor. When I picked it up and looked at the screen, I noticed that there was nothing on it. The power button did nothing to turn it on, but the phone itself seemed to work because I could still hear sounds, turn on the flashlight by pressing the power button twice in quick succession (I set it up that way in the settings), feel vibrations, and force restarts, but that was all I could do.

A day after this happened, I took the phone to a repair shop, which is where it is right now. So far, the process hadn't been very hopeful based on the two phone calls I've received from the shop. Both the screen and flex cable replacements had no effect on the issue. Of course, I deeply regret breaking the phone now. Besides, before I broke it, I had begun working on the next AoLtE page, but if the issue ends up not being fixed, I'll either have to start from scratch or find a way to retrieve data from that phone.

Oh, and I wrote this on a phone that I've used to draw on before upgrading to the A53. So, what's the moral of this story? Always, ALWAYS learn from your past mistakes and try your best not to repeat them. Anyway, that's all I wanted to share today. Here's hoping that the issue is fixed, and I can make that AoLtE page into reality.
